What do you use to make your movies?
I use a program called ‘Windows Movie Maker’. This should come with all Windows XP operating systems. I also use the game ‘The Sims 2′ with expansion packs ‘Nightlife’ and ‘Pets’.
How long does it take you to make your movies?
Well that depends really. My first movie I made (Long Way To Go) took me all of about six hours, and I did it all in one sitting. I was just so excited to make a movie! I didn’t know about camera angles, techniques, effects and everything; which is why it is such a basic, simple and pretty much unprofessional movie LOL. But my latest movie ‘Hearts Divided’ took about.. well.. just over a month. I wrote a script, shot over 150 bits of footage and edited like mad. I think once you get more into making movies, more in-depth, it takes you longer because you see all these tiny little errors and un-prefect things, and you really do become a perfectionist.
Are you a perfectionist?
Yes I think I am, when something interests me. If it’s something that I can’t be bothered doing, then I usually won’t do it properly. But with movie making, yes I think I am. But then again, when I look at my finished movie I think “That’s great” but then I upload it and ask for reviews and other people point out tiny little things and you think “Dur!” LOL. But to answer your question in a word: Yeah.
How did you get interested in movies and machinima-movie-making?
Hmm, good question! I actually can’t remember, but I do remember seeing some peoples movies AAGES ago and thinking “That’s awesome!” And then I also thought to myself “If they can do it, why can’t I?” As I am always up for a challenge I decided to make a movie. I didn’t read any tutorials or ask for advice, but I got onto sims99.com, created an account and uploaded my first movie. It got some okay reviews (considering it WAS my first ever movie) but yeah, then I just wanted to better myself and now I’m kinda hooked!!
